A week ago today, I decided it was time to make a change. What really sent me over the edge was my new driver’s license photo. I didn’t like what I saw. I have known for some time that I wasn’t the healthiest and I didn’t look like I wanted to look but something about that picture finally made it really sync in.
I want to be a healthy example for my children. Not only that, I want them to see it’s ok for Mom to make herself a priority. I’ve been putting my health on the back burner for far too long. Women, in general, make everyone and everything a priority except themselves which is one of the reasons I think my weight has gotten out of control. In order to help me reach a healthy weight, I joined Weight Watchers online. Years ago I used it and it worked great. It helps me really watch what I’m putting into my body. The most basic principle I keep telling myself is to eat less, move more. That statement is the secret to weight loss, I’ve just chosen to ignore it.
I’m happy to report I lost 5lbs in my first week! This new program by Weight Watchers is really great. I was able to eat out twice this weekend and still lose weight. What really helped makes those dining out experiences a success was that I pre-planned what I was going to eat. If you know where you are going look at the menu beforehand so you can plan how many points you will be using. The Weight Watchers app has been my best friend. It has a huge list of restaurants with point values as well as a barcode scanner that I’ve been using while I’m grocery shopping.
